Paramount Carowinds

Paramount Carowinds is an exciting theme park just 35 minutes from Lake Norman. Kids and adults will have a blast, whether it’s at Nickelodean Central, with everyone’s favorite Nick characters and rides, or on one of the 12 awesome roller coasters in the park. 

Amazing Maize Maze

If you’re in Lake Norman during late summer or early fall, be sure to check out the Amazing Maize Maze in Rural Hill. Kids love it, and it’s a fun activitiy for the whole family.

Historic Latta Plantation

The Latta Plantation is the last plantation on the Catawba River that is open to the public. The plantation is on the National Register of Historic Sites and still has the original home and smokehouse as well as 11 other outbuildings. Learn about the history of the property and the region from interpreters in period clothes. Kids will love the farm animals and garden!

NASCAR Speedpark

Head to the races at a the NASCAR Speedpark and Family Fun Center, which offers 5 tracks, a mini golf course, indoor climbing wall, playground, laser tag, kiddie rides, and arcade.

Rural Hill

Rural Hill is the historic homestead of Major John and Violet (Wilson) Davidson. A descendant of Scottish immigrants, John Davidson joined the Patriot cause during the American Revolution. Serving as an officer in the American army and a signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, John Davidson risked his life and property to support American independence.
